National Event

Welcome to Gosport and riders on the start line

Gosport BMX Club are extremely pleased to be holding Rounds 9 & 10 of the 2010 National BMX Series. Below is a list of all the information we think you'll need to make your visit the best it could be. If you have any questions or comments, please use the contact form to drop us a line, and your enquiry will be dealt with speedily.

Camping

Camping will be available from Wednesday 4th August on a pre–book basis. To book a pitch for the Wednesday and Thursday, please use the contact form, giving the following details:

  • Contact name and phone number
  • Caravan or tent?
  • Estimated time of arrival.

If you plan on camping on Friday or Saturday, there's no need to book, just turn up.

Each pitch will cost £10 per night.

Toilets, showers and waste disposal point for caravans will be available. Sadly, no electric hook up.

A security guard will be on site 24/7 from 6pm Friday until 6am Monday.

minibus

It's a 5 minute walk from the campsite to the track. On Saturday and Sunday a free minibus will be running, shuttling people and kit to and from the track. A pick up and drop off point will also be available close to the track if you wish to bring gazebos or other larger items.

The campsite is located on Military Road, Gosport. Follow signs for directions.

Finding us

Not sure how to find us? Check out the map page on the site. We're about 2.5km from the centre of Gosport on Grange Road, to the west of the town. If you use a "sat nav" system, using the postcode of the waste and recycling centre, PO13 8AS, will find us – we're behind the waste and recycling centre, opposite the playing fields between Privett Road and Grange Road.

Parking

Parking will be available next to the track at a cost of £6 for the weekend.

Local Amenities

Next to the campsite is a "2 for 1" pub, with a parade of shops just 2 minutes walk away on Privett Road ( Co–op, pharmacy, newsagent, fish and chips, bookies).

Gosport and the surrounding area has some beautiful beaches overlooking The Solent. A 10 minute bike ride away is Stokes Bay seafront, with Lee–on–Solent only a short drive away.

The town forms part of Portsmouth harbour, home to the Royal Navy. Harbour tours can be taken from Gosport or at Gunwharf Quays, a large discount shopping area with bars and restaurants overlooking the harbour.

Evening Gate Practise

Gate practise sessions will run each evening from Wednesday 4th August through until Friday 6th August, from 6pm to 8pm. The cost is £3 for each session.

Gazebos

£5 per 3m x 3m gazebo. Club gazebos only will be allowed around the perimeter of the track. A separate area for teams has been chosen on grass area next to the track. To book a club gazebo, please use the contact form on the website. A maximum of 3 gazebos per club will be allowed. Bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis. Numbers are limited for club gazebos.

Coaching Sessions

Plans are being made with both Dylan Clayton and Kelvin Batey to be able to offer coaching sessions from the Wednesday prior to the National. Final details on timings and cost will be out soon.
